Maryvale Wins Fourth Consecutive Game, Adrian Stubbs Leads Team in Scoring Again

Following his historic 100-point performance against Kofa Tuesday night, Senior Guard Adrian “Ace” Stubbs led Maryvale in scoring once again in a 61-45 victory over Rincon University high school on Friday.

Stubbs finished the night with a game-high 21 points. Although it was only a fraction of his scoring output from a few nights before, it was more than enough to lead Maryvale to their fourth win in a row.

While Stubbs has been the talk of the town all week, he wasn’t even a starter for his team Friday night. Maryvale rolled out an entirely new line up against Rincon. Those players included Marcus Green (Jr.), Meqhi Teutsch (Fr.), Jose Villa (Sr.), Saul Alvarez (Soph.) and Jadon Cuen (Sr.). According to assistant coach Marcello Stone, the lineup switch was part of a deal the players had made amongst themselves in order to help Stubbs get to 100 points. The players formerly mentioned sacrificed their playing time Tuesday so Stubbs could shatter the scoring record, and in return, they got to start at home Friday night.

Since breaking the Arizona state record for points in a single game, Stubbs has quickly become a headline name. His historic performance led to interviews with AZCentral, Arizona’s Family, 12News, and ABC15, and even captured national attention with coverage from The New York Times, Sports Center and TMZ.

Beyond the headlines and accolades, Stubbs’ performance reflects the culture and commitment behind the program that helped shape him. The record may belong to one night, but its impact will be felt long after the final buzzer.

Maryvale hopes to keep their win streak alive as they hit the road to take on Mesa Mountain View on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
